Currently based in Ottawa, Grace Kwamboka Onyancha (born 22 September 1997), better known by her stage name Kwamzie, is a Kenyan & Ugandan Afro-jazz singer, songwriter, dancer and producer. Deeply rooted in Afrobeats, her musical style spans numerous genres fusing her Swahili influences with pop, soul, jazz, R&B and reggae-dancehall. She uses her experience as a world citizen to reflect and call for unity amongst people of color and Immigrants alike, making sure to never dilute her African heritage to reach her global audience.
Singer, songwriter, dancer and producer Kwamzie is determined to leave her mark on the African, North American and European music scene with her Swahili inspired poetic and sultry lyrical prowess. Her expressive performances continue to impress fans with her eclectic and energetic performances. Her first concert at Java Fest on November 23rd 2020 in Maryland, USA took the crowd by surprise and had them chanting for more. Her other performances include OMG Fest in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. As a result of these performances and her discography, Kwamzie was nominated for the AYOO AFRICA (Formerly MadeInAfricaEXP) Top Ten DC 2020 under the Music & Entertainment category. Her current work includes the hits “LALA” produced by renowned afrobeat’s producer Samklef and the broken-hearted ballad “MADHARAU”. Kwamzie’s debut EP “EAST AFRICANA” takes the listener on an inspired, unique and nomadic journey that spans across genres by fusing Afrobeat, Pop, Jazz, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, and R&B. The success of “East Africana” has taken all dance floors by storm.
